Confidence before go-live - not remediation afterwards

A transformation is not successful simply because the technology has been delivered. It succeeds when processes work from end to end, data can be trusted, users can operate effectively and critical services remain secure, stable and resilient after go-live. Yet quality is still too often addressed towards the end of delivery. Testing timescales become compressed, environments are not ready and defects are discovered when they are most expensive and disruptive to resolve. Modern quality engineering takes a different approach, embedding assurance throughout the transformation lifecycle rather than treating testing as a final gateway.

The challenge is particularly significant during ERP and CRM implementations, cloud migrations, digital-platform programmes and complex data transformations. Business processes frequently cross multiple applications, suppliers and organisational boundaries. A change that works correctly within one system may still fail when combined with integrations, migrated data, security controls and real-world operating conditions.

AI is also changing both how software is developed and how it must be assured. AI-assisted development and testing can accelerate delivery, automation and defect analysis. However, AI-enabled applications introduce less predictable behaviours that cannot always be evaluated through conventional pass-or-fail scripts. Accuracy, reliability, security, bias, model drift, human oversight and the quality of generated outputs must all form part of the assurance approach.

A typical engagement might involve a focused assessment, an independent assurance review, the recovery of a testing workstream that has lost control or a complete Quality Engineering work package aligned to agreed milestones and governance. The capability can be adapted as the programme progresses from design and build through to migration, implementation and operational acceptance.
