Many clients come to us after preferred supplier lists, generalist recruitment agencies or contingent search activity have failed to deliver the right result. In many cases, the problem is not simply the availability of talent. It is the way the assignment is being worked.

Why Retained?

Most recruitment consultants are managing multiple roles at the same time. Those roles naturally compete for attention, and agencies will always prioritise the assignments they believe are most likely to result in a successful placement of the highest value. A highly attractive role, with a strong package, clear brief, committed client and exclusive or retained basis of engagement will usually receive the most focus. A role released to multiple agencies on a purely contingent basis will rarely command the same level of commitment, however important that vacancy may be to the client.

How are Exceptional People different?

We do not wait for active candidates to respond to adverts or database searches. We map the market, identify the individuals who are most closely aligned to your requirement and approach the best available talent directly, whether they are actively looking or not. Because the best candidates may not remain available at the end of a standard three-month executive search process we adopt an agile approach that minimises the risk of losing them to competitors. Assignments typically take between two to four weeks from instruction to offer acceptance.

If we believe that the offering is such that we can source a world-class solution, we will agree an exclusive retained basis of engagement. By doing this, our clients can feel assured the role is worked at the right level of seniority with focus, urgency and accountability, and that the market is approached in a considered and targeted way.
